In Ditzingen, you will encounter security solutions for monitoring and safeguarding borders and border controls, protection of civil and military facilities and tactical communication.

Your mission

  • You are in charge of all bid, solution management and operational PMO related activities of CBU SIX Ditzingen. The Head of Bids & Solutions leads a team of Bid, Solution, Product Line Managers as well PMO employees
  • You define competitive bids for profitable growth of the CBU's customer and product portfolio in close coordination with Sales, Account Management, the CBU CODIR members and the WW BLs
  • Also, you are accountable for the day to day relationship and management of all the key stakeholders both externally and internally
  • You define a clearcut customer value propositions for products, solutions and services offered by the CBU as well as the actions to address and to build that business (e.g. studies)
  • In close collaboration with sales and R&D you shape and define solutions that serve customer needs, recognize the value of Thales solutions and positions these solutions favourably for upcoming procurements
  • Coaches and ongoingly transforms the solutions, bid and PMO team (diversity, training, expertise)

Bid management:


  • Ensures submission of offers in a timely and highquality manner in coordination a.o. with Capture, Projects and R&D
  • Responsible for management of entire bid budget of CBU SIX Ditzingen
  • Can act as bid manager or Baseline Authority for large opportunities

Solution Management:


  • Sets the strategic product portfolio and objectives for the CBU and agree them with Management-Team
  • Develop Products and Solutions Portfolio (based on Group / BL portfolio) for profitable growth, Including Value Added for Thales Germany
  • In close exchange with Sales, identifies and quantifies new business potential for the CBU, leveraging the product, solution and service portfolio of the whole SIX GBU, including but not limited to the portfolio of the CBU
  • Supervises the product line management activities for Cybels Authenticate in alignment and cooperation with the BL

Operational PMO:


  • Further increases maturity of operational PMO activities of the CBU to support projects and positive Project Efficiency
  • Ensures workload planning for Bids, Projects and R&D
  • Closely collaborates with Thales Germany Bids & Projects

We are looking forward to

  • Degree in an engineering discipline paired with a strong commercial background or business diploma with strong technical background
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in total, thereof at least 5 years in a management position with P&L responsibility in comparable industry
  • Experience with governmental and Defence/Security business is a must
  • Strong leadership skills, change management and understanding of the SIX portfolio is mandatory
  • Experienced manager and team player with excellent handson management skills who can interact at different levels within the national and international Thales organization
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to develop close relations with key stakeholders paired with an existing Thales and customer network within the defence community
  • Fluency in German and English is required. Must be able to communicate in both languages verbally and in writing within international teams and with customers. This explicitly includes presentations, technical and commercial documents and contracts
