For the topic Research Data Management (RDM) at the IGB at the Berlin-Friedrichshagen location at lake Müggelsee, we are looking for a Research Data Management Officer to start as soon as possible.


In this position, you will support researchers in creating data management plans and publishing their data, and implement the service offerings in the area of data management, FAIR Data and Open Science.


You will work closely with the members of the RDM Competence and Technology Platform as well as the Information Management and Open Science Officer, and support the conceptual development and strategic management of RDM at the IGB.

Für den Bereich Forschungsdatenmanagement (FDM) des IGB am Standort Berlin-Friedrichshagen am Müggelsee suchen wir zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine*n Referent*in für Forschungsdatenmanagement.


In dieser Position beraten Sie die Forschenden beim Erstellen von Datenmanagementplänen und bei der Publikation ihrer Daten und setzen die Serviceangebote im Bereich Datenmanagement, FAIR Data und Open Science um.


Sie arbeiten eng mit den Mitgliedern der Kompetenzplattform FDM und der Referent*in für Informationsmanagement und Open Science zusammen, und unterstützen die konzeptionelle Weiterentwicklung und strategische Steuerung des FDM am IGB.

Your tasks:


  • Advise and support researchers on RDM with a focus on data management plans, metadata schemas, and publication of research data according to FAIR principles
  • Raising researchers' awareness of sustainable data management according to good scientific practice
  • Further development of the area of Research Data Management in close cooperation with the members of the RDM competence platform
  • Support in the implementation and updating of the IGB Data Policy
  • Development and streamlining of internal communication and networking structures within the institute, in particular with data managers of the research groups

Your profile:


  • Completed academic university studies (master's degree, diploma or equivalent) in a field relevant to the job
  • Advantageous: Doctorate in a scientific field related to the IGB and/or additional qualification in the field of data/information management
  • Very good knowledge of scientific data management and current developments in open data, open science, and reproducible research
  • Handson experience working with data management plans and research data management; experience in conducting training is advantageous
  • Experience with digital research data and processes and related tools such as repositories, metadata schemas, Git and Relational Database Management Systems
  • Excellent communication skills in English; advantageous: knowledge of German
  • An outgoing personality with strong communication skills who enjoys serviceoriented work and is willing to actively approach and support colleagues in RDM.

Salary is paid according to the German salary scheme for the public sector (TVöD Bund). It is a full-time position with 39 working hours per week. The position is principally suited for job sharing or part-time work. Depending on personal qualifications and the tasks assigned, the position will be graded up to pay group 13. The position is limited to 2 years.
