**Aufgaben

AufgabenAufgaben***The scope of this thesis is to develop a machine learning model which is able to segment light reflections caused by oncoming vehicles at night in urban environments. You will build up on previous research and improve the performance of an existing machine learning model for semantic segmentation based on image sequences. You will focus on improving the training procedure for the specific use case by evaluating the influence on model performance of several mechanisms during model training.

To sum up, your thesis will consist of the following:

Research existing literature regarding best practices to train semantic segmentation models, especially based on image sequences (video)
Evaluate the influence of several training strategies on model performance using a custom dataset
Experiment with custom loss functions
Define appropriate metrics to evaluate model performance
Document your results scientifically In case of excellent results, contribute to a research paper on a top conference or journal

**Anforderungen

Ideally with a focus on Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or similar
Experience in Computer Vision & Machine Learning
Good programming skills & experience in Python (OOP, versioning, testing)
English and/or German
Strong analytical thinking

Structured way of working and ability to drive your own project forward
