For the green energy economy and (chemical) industry of the future, electrosynthetic processes are indispensable.

In our "Electrocatalysis" group, we research catalysts, cell concepts and electrolysis conditions in order to optimize them for industrial scale.

For water electrolysis, precious metal-free catalysts are established for the cathode of a zero-gap cell. In this master thesis, the electrode environment for a given catalyst system will be optimized.


What you will do

  • Production of electrode units via spray processes
  • Testing and electrochemical characterization of electrodes in a zerogap electrolyzer
  • Characterization of catalysts and electrodes by XRD, SEM-EDX, EIS, XRF, ICP-OES, etc.
- internal presentation and discussion of results


What you bring to the table

  • Studies in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or similar courses of study.
- good knowledge in the field of electrochemistry, synthesis and characterization of solids is desirable
- independent and structured work
