Academic Part-time Position

The School of Trades & Apprenticeship is currently seeking qualified professionals to teach courses Part-time during the day, in the HRAC Technician or 313A Apprenticeship programs, starting September 2024.

We are currently seeking individuals who could teach Pressure Enthalpy & Refrigerants, Material Handling Procedures, and Heating & Refrigeration theory and practice.

You would be joining a program team that will provide you with orientation, course material, and support.

As well, Conestoga has the largest Teaching & Learning department in the province which delivers workshops and supports faculty's professional development.

Responsibilities:

Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including in shop, online, classroom, and computerassisted lab lessons
Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students' cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty

Qualifications:

313A Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Certificate of Qualification required
Additional 313A Certificate of Apprenticeship is preferred
Minimum of five years of related industry experience

Gas licenses

G2 or G1 are considered an asset
Previous adult or postsecondary teaching experience is considered an asset
Experience with curriculum development is an asset
Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L, Zoom) is an asset
Strong leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
