QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements of this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of proven business work experience in a professional position, preferably in a college or university setting;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles;
  • Possess an understanding of business processes;
  • Excellent supervisory/leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments, organize work, make decisions, and function independently with mínimal supervision;
  • Excellent communication skills with employees at all levels both verbal and written.
  • The following is preferred:
  • Master's degree in a related field and/or CPA certificate;
  • Directly related proven work experience in an institution of higher education;
  • Previous experience with integrated accounting and ERP systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing administrative oversight and staff support to Accounts Receivable, Cashier's Office, Banking Office and the general ledger as it relates to student financial accounts and bank reconciliations;
  • Responsible for supervising and all related functions of all staff employees in Accounts Receivable, Cashier's Office, Banking Office and the general ledger as it relates to student financial accounts and bank reconciliations;
  • Representing Finance on all Workday Student Financial and Bank Reconciliation concerns, and ensuring that the management assertions of completeness and existence are met.
  • Ensuring compliance and maintaining sound internal controls in student financials area.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising Accounts Receivable and staff; Supervising Cashier's Office and staff; Supervising Banking Office and staff;
  • Providing administrative oversight of all Student Financial and Banking activities of the College;
  • Ensuring all Student Financial general ledger accounts are timely reconciled;
  • Providing Student Financial training and support to the campuses;
  • Providing cash handling training and support to auxiliaries;
  • Assisting with the Finance monthly and quarterly financial reporting;
  • Overseeing the collection of outstanding receivables owed to the college and provide periodic management financial reports;
  • Developing goals and objectives to strengthen staff and business processes;
  • Completing auxiliaries visits and audits;
  • Processing voided checks approvals;
  • Completing, reviewing, and filing of form 1098T;
  • Processing payments of nonresident alien tax deposits;
  • Preparing and filing of tax forms for nonresident aliens;
  • Acting as one of the system administrator contact for banks;
  • Completing and performing all staff performance appraisals for the departments listed;
  • Completing bank and merchant reconciliation review;
  • Performing review of lab fees and ensure compliance with State requirements;
  • Processing dual enrollment tuition billing and oversee Dual Enrollment Homeschool books program;
  • Overseeing collection of all payments received and ensure proper cash handling practices;
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean of Finance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.

It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
