QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field;
  • A minimum of two (2) years proven work experience in Accounts Receivable is required;
  • General knowledge of all areas in the Finance Division;
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles and experience working within an accounting system;
  • Ability to work with people in time sensitive and critical situations;
  • Professional appearance;
  • Strong business aptitude and ability to make sound judgements;
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented;
  • Ability to be well organized;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others and be selfmotivated;
  • Proven knowledge of collection, and college policy and procedures;
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Strong supervisory skills are required to instruct Accounts Receivable staff;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required as this position requires direct contact with college administrators, faculty, staff, general public and students on a regular basis;
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred;
  • Proven work experience in Accounts Receivable in a higher education setting is preferred;
  • Experience working within a Workday system is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing all functions of the Accounts Receivable Department;
  • Maintaining, regulating, and controlling collections;
  • Completing general accounting duties in all areas of the Finance Division as assigned by the Director of Student Financials and/or AVP of Finance;
  • Researching and responding to student financial related questions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising Accounts Receivable staff and all associated responsibilities;
  • Maintaining, regulating, and controlling the collection and function of the College receivables;
  • Establishing and maintaining written procedures;
  • Completing the setup for new accounts;
  • Testing and implementing new processes and new software releases in Workday Student Financials;
  • Conferring with College departments and area organizations concerning student fees, schedules, and billing issues;
  • Maintaining, auditing, modifying, and analyzing receivables and receivable accounts;
  • Complying and preparing for audit requests;
  • Understanding and implementing the filing requirements for certain tax documents such as 1098T, 1042S and Substantial Presence Test for foreign students;
  • Work with Enterprise Systems on system integrations such as Bookstore, Florida Prepaid, Tuition Payment Plan and Collection Agency;
  • Work with Financial Aid Office to disburse and reconcile financial aid accounts;
  • Reconciliation on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis all receivable accounts to the general ledger;
  • Preparation of receivable reports at year end;
  • Completing other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Financials and/or AVP of Finance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.

It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
