In this role, the Solution Architect - Electric Machines is responsible for all technical aspects in the pursuit of new business opportunities for electric machines in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles and is the primary technical interface to the customer from the start of the quote process through program kick off.


The Solution Architect - Electric Machines leads the engineering effort to understand the customer requirements, develops a product solution to meet the requirements and determines the costs and effort associated with the product development.


The Solution Architect - Electric Machines will also support the definition of the product development strategy and roadmap, considering electric machine technologies, platform vs customer specific approach as well as flexibility in design and manufacturing.

Tasks

  • Serve as the central technical interface to customers in the new business opportunity pursuit phase
  • Lead the quote team and coordinate across various engineering, manufacturing, and sales competencies to develop technical solutions for customer quotes
  • Break down specifications into subsystem requirements and assign to appropriate teams to review
  • Work with Sales and the Quote Manager to develop quote timing
  • Ensure engineering tasks across the organization are completed on time for the quote
  • Lead the quote team to generate Bill of Material (BOM), ED&D costs, and timing plans
  • Communicate changes to the quote team and perform ongoing risk management for the project
  • Support the definition of the product development strategy and roadmap for electric machines

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a preferred focus on electric machines and electric drive systems
  • 8+ Years of industry experience with detailed working knowledge of electric machines required
  • Experience with automotive powertrains in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles is preferred
  • Wide engineering background with experience in complex systems with mechatronics, power electronics and software is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German are required
  • Ability to travel at least 10% is required
  • Must be comfortable working independently on multiple programs in a fastpaced work environment
  • Organized and structured workstyle and attention to detail are required
  • Must be comfortable working on a global team
  • Good at coaching people and fostering a team approach
