Research Associate / Postdoc in Artificial Intelligence, Health and Digital Culture (M/F/x)

starting at the
earliest possible date._ _The position is to 24 months, with the option for extension
governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG)._ _
The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification._ _


Tasks:
We are seeking scholars who work at the intersection of the social sciences and/or humanities
and media studies. We are interested in historical and/or ethnographic scholarship on any

combination of the following fields:
1) artificial intelligence in the medical field (ethical and social implications),
2) Social impacts of big data (particularly as related to biomedicine),
3) Data Security, data privacy and digital technology.

Fields of specialization might include but are not limited to: Histories of Science, Media Studies,
Science Technology Studies, Communication Studies, Geography, Anthropology, Medical Ethics. We
also welcome studies that are global in perspective. You will be primarily responsible for your own
research as well as the organization of group publications and policy documents in coordination with
the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine. You will also be expected to participate in grant writing and
acquiring third party support.


The Research Group:
You will be joining a dynamic interdisciplinary group, directed by Prof. Orit
Halpern, that will be part of a research center investigating infrastructure, environment, and
will also be working with the Chair for Medical Device Regulatory Affairs (Prof. Stephen Gilbert), who
will be heading the research on data security, data protection, data privacy, sharing consent and
associated regulation. You will also be working with other researchers coming from Design, Media
Studies, Political Science, and Science Technology Studies.
