FCS / FMS Equipment Design Responsible (d/M/F)
A vacancy for an Equipment Design Responsible Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join the department Flight Control & Flight Management Systems - Equipment Management (TEYYF-TL6). The position offers a multitude of activities incl.

equipment responsibility, D3Q (Design, Development, Demonstration and Qualification) activities, technical management of suppliers for FCAS (Future Combat Air System) and its associated programs e.g.

RC (Remote Carrier) and as well as for other Weapon Systems e.g.
Eurofighter (Flight Control System).


You will be part of a dynamic international team and will be in direct contact with our customers and suppliers.

Particular activities can also be agreed to be carried out within the framework of "mobile work".

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for FCS and FMS Electronic Equipment Design
  • FCAS, RC
  • Eurofighter (FCS, IMU, SSICA, ADT, TIPS, ISCC).
  • Management of statutory, functional, performance, system and technical requirements from higher level architecture and specifications (internal and external), and allocation to the corresponding equipment.
  • Generation and maintenance of the technical contract documents (Equipment specifications (PTS), Data Requirement List, Equipment Engineering Design, Requirement Documents, FRD, and Equipment Interface Control Document).
  • Responsible for compliance to technical contract documents, equipment change management and build standard Management.
  • Management of Equipment D3Q (incl. development in accordance with hardware standard DO254 and other applicable standards), Obsolescence and Re-Design.
  • Point of Contact and technical management of supplier activities/results (selection process, D3Q activities, milestone management, Stage of Involvement Reviews (SOIs), validation and acceptance of deliverable items, DDPs, limitations and deviations, support and assessment of defect investigations and repairs, harmonization and control of supplier and program plans).
  • Support stakeholder requests concerning Equipment queries, defects and problem investigations.
  • Support Equipment Integration Testing
  • Liaison and coordination with other disciplines, departments (EMC, RM&T, ILS, QA...) and the customer (incl. national airworthiness authorities (NAAs) e.g. LufABw).

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in requirements management, technical specification, traceability, equipment system, engineering aspect
  • Knowledge in standards e.g. qualification processes, safety processes, reliability processes, hardware processes DO254, software processes DO178, airworthiness, testability, maintainability
  • Knowledge in digital computing as well as Analytical and Signal Processing skills
  • Mechanical and electrical skills
  • Supervise suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Specific sensor knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge about the FCAS, Eurofighter and other Weapon Systems are welcomed
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboratively manner within an international team, including the ability to coordinate and influence people.
  • Language skills: businessfluent English and German
The willingness to travel on business is required.
