We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Director Procurement - Europe within our Purchasing team to help support our Automotive business.

Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables.

In this role, you will be accountable to lead regionally based Purchasing team members, support operations, new program introductions, and the indirect procurement strategies within the region.

So, what will you be doing as the Director Procurement - Europe?

  • Represent Procurement in Product Line Business Team(s), acting as a key interface between Procurement and the Product Lines. Ensure Product Line priorities are considered within Procurement strategies, and that Procurement risks, strategies, and initiatives are understood within the Business Team(s)
  • Within the new program scope of activities, insure: the implementation of the category strategies; achievement of all major program deliverables (cost, quality, timing, service, etc.).

Manage the team to:

prepare and present sourcing committee documentation; execute contracts reflecting the results of sourcing initiatives that adequately manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions.

Strong knowledge of region commercial contract law

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership for LPA indirect material strategies within scope of responsibility; identify areas within the commodity of suboptimized cost and value, and implement actions to address such areas (MSA, etc.)
  • Accountable to ensure adequate support for Operations and Procurement initiative within the Branches, and within New Program activities
  • Develop and implement industry leading practices, standards, controls, policies, and metrics to effectively and efficiently manage scope of responsibility (if not defined by a global BPT standard)
  • Lead, inspire, and coach the Program, Operations, and Indirect Procurement teams. Responsible for hiring, retention, and team training & development ensuring the proper level of procurement competencies
  • Accountable for provide adaquate support to insure the achievement of results within the region (productivity, quality, rationalization,)
  • Provide input for AP / DPO targets as required

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Higher education degree in related field (e.g. Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Total Enterprise Procurement, or Technical field)
  • Black Belt certification desired, but not required
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Supply Chain or Procurement with a minimum of 5 years direct experience in business/functional improvement roles
  • Experience working in the Automotive industry
  • Indepth knowledge of supply chain business processes improvement experience (i.e bill of materials, routing, work centers, etc.), supply chain (production and demand planning, forecasting, scheduling, inventory management, logistics, procurement and sales), and operations
  • Strong understanding of the integration between Supply Chain and other business areas, including Integrated Business planning (IBP).
  • Experience mapping, redesigning and/or designing business process with an emphasis on simplification, standardization, efficiency and automation where appropriate
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English (German a plus)
