We are seeking to recruit one Regional Compliance Officer (f/m/d) for the West African Region (Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia) as well as one Regional Compliance Officer (f/m/d) for the East African Region (Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, DR Congo) of our Area Africa-Eastern Mediterranean Basin.


The Regional Compliance Officer is monitoring and driving all relevant compliance-related topics, including the prevention of corruption, anti-money laundering, trade sanctions, human rights, data protection and compliance incident management.


You will be part of the Group Compliance & Data Protection team and report directly to the Head of Compliance & Data Protection.

The position is located in Heidelberg, Germany, but requires frequent traveling to Africa (up to 50% of your working time).

A willingness to relocate in the future is a prerequisite for this position.


Your next challenge:


  • Lead and train the Compliance Officers in your region and develop the compliance organisation locally
  • Provide advice on compliance issues to the General Manager and other key personnel in the region
  • Ensure the further implementation and constant optimization of the Heidelberg Materials Compliance Management System in all countries of your region
  • Provide training to the management, supervise trainings by the Country Compliance Officers
  • Supervise the execution of risk assessments, especially with focus on corruption and human rights
  • Supervise the compliance reporting for the countries within the region to the Group
  • Manage investigations on compliance incidents for the region
  • Support Group Compliance & Data Protection in international compliance projects

Your profile:


  • University degree in any field, legal education is an advantage, but not a must requirement
  • Extended professional experience in compliance
  • Ideally 5 years of work experience in a similar compliance management role
  • Experience in living and working in Africa is a prerequisite
  • Willingness to frequently travel to your region n and/or to potentially relocate
  • Intercultural awareness and strong communication skills
  • Experience regarding the challenges of a multinational corporation will be highly appreciated
  • Strong leadership skills and interdisciplinary work ability
  • High level of commitment and solutionoriented working style
  • Outstanding personal integrity and trustworthiness
  • Fluency in the English language is required
  • For the East African Region French languague skills are a plus, for the West African Region it is a requirement
