The Role:


Where you fit in
Trading & Supply (T&S) acts as an integrator within Shell's Downstream business to maximize integrated value.

The T&S Products business encompasses all activities from lifting products from our refineries, purchasing from and trading with 3rd parties, to delivering finished products to our customers.

One of its key priorities is to enable the Energy Transition by developing Low Carbon Fuels.

Supply Dealmaking in T&S is responsible for managing the external interface with the Supply market. The team develops and executes negotiation strategies across a portfolio of products and logistics contracts.

Its main target is to maximize cash generation and end-to-end value from hydrocarbon buy/sell activities and negotiating logistics contracts with external providers to optimize the supply chain.

The competitiveness of other Business lines depends heavily on the success of this team. Counterparties include other energy companies merchant refiners, as well as NOCs and unconventional competitors, like resellers and Trading houses. In addition, the Dealmaking team deals with logistics partners such as depot owners.


What ́s the role
Shell announced strategic changes to its Supply chain including reducing refining capacity and considering divestments such as PCK.

The purpose of the Senior Dealmaker is to negotiate required Supply & Offtake Agreements as well as manage the external relationships with the enable the organization to optimize and maximize value from the negotiated contracts and ensure smooth operations to manage business and financial risks.


Strategic changes to the supply chain as well as turning Energiewende topics into opportunities along the value chain will require working with an opportunity mindset to capture opportunities in the within a 6-18 months' time frame but also shape Shell's position in DACH for Those changes are expected to evolve the Dealmaking team into Green Dealmaking.

Along with that it will impact our ways of working and competitive position in the region.

Internal alignment across LOBs, new opportunities, and processes as well as system solutions will need to be implemented to ensure smooth operations, helping Shell stay in control to optimize our operations.

The Senior Dealmaker is responsible to ensure the contractual solutions fit our integrated supply chain strategy across all products and exercise options to extract maximum value for Shell.


As the team is connected in all aspects of energy value chain's competitive strategy, a thorough understanding of the multiple relevant market levers (Trading-, Supply-, Wholesale-, Mobility market) and political/legislative dynamics (e.g.

Biofuels, CO2, EV) across national borders is a central task to this role.


Key accountabilities include:


  • Accountable and responsible to facilitate smooth working interface and strong contract management with 3rd parties and internal Shell teams (Distribution, Commercial Operations, Channel Optimization, Trading Desks, Business Development).
  • Contribute to maximizing Enterprise Integrated Value through:
  • Being the interface to partners and the supply/refining market
  • Bringing meaningful market insights into the optimization process
  • Generating opportunities based on the knowledge of the Shell system, future Supply & Offtake Agreements and matching those to local or regional market trends
  • Explore optimization opportunities on local 3rd party options (hydrocarbons, Bio Fuels, EV and logistics)
  • Represent Dealmaking in the S&OP process
  • Develop 3rd party contracting strategy for the region with steering input from other teams. Responsible for negotiations and structuring contractual arrangements. The contracting objective is to maximize value, enable supply chain robustness and create optionality.
  • Ensure selection of contract partners who meet minimum HSSE criteria and that Shell policies and HSSE requirements are specified in all Hydrocarbons and Logistics contracts. Coordinates with Supply Operations / PQ Excellence / Supply HSSE lead to assure Operational and Safety contract compliance.
  • Develops and maintains sound commercial relationships with 3rd party supply partners, in compliance with Shell General Business Principles and Antitrust Laws.
  • Undertake Business Development activities/projects in new markets, products and supply chains.

What we need from you
As a Senior Supply Dealmaker, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Entrepreneurial plus commercial acumen with balanced understanding of business risk and reward.
  • Requires broad experience of oil markets and industry know how.
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Fluent German and English.
  • Firsthand negotiation experience is desirable
  • Prior working experiences in Supply Chain and/or Dealmaking prefer
