About the Unit:


Yara has an ambitious strategic agenda to be the crop nutrition company for the future and is taking lead in the development towards a sustainable agriculture.

We have a worldwide presence with sales to ~150 countries and around employees.

The Global Innovation unit will support the transformation towards a nature positive food future and contribute to solving challenges the agricultural industry is facing.


We are looking for an experienced, passionate, curious and innovative
Scientist (M/F/d) with a sound scientific agronomic and sustainability background to join us as scientist driving environmental analyses of different agricultural practices and crop nutrition solutions.

The position will have a close collaboration with other competence teams within YARD as well as with the Yara business regions.

The position is preferred based in Germany (Hanninghof/Dülmen) or at an other office in YARA Europe or worldwide. The person hired reports to the Team Lead Sustainability and Strategic Research.


Responsibilities:

What you will be doing

  • Employ and develop carbon footprint calculations for different land uses, crops and cropping systems
  • Develop tools for carbon footprint calculations focused on fertilizers and crop nutrition
  • Perform environmental assessments regarding different agricultural practices and fertilizer use
  • Subject matter expertise for environmental indicators to assess agriculture practices and crop nutrition solutions
  • Inform and educate the broader Yara organization about sustainable agriculture
  • Represent Yara in scientific conferences, external research collaborations and working groups about environmental impact of agriculture and crop nutrition

Profile:

What you will bring

  • Master's degree in agricultural or environmental sciences with focus on environmental aspects of agriculture with relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in carbon footprinting or GHG accounting in an agriculture context
  • Excellent knowledge of agricultural practices worldwide and their environmental assessment, with a relevant research and professional agronomy network
  • Excellent English language skills, additional languages such as German and Spanish are an advantage
