Team Leader Experimental Unit Aquatic

The role

Bayer Crop Science is engaged in R&D initiatives contributing to sustainability goals and aiming to minimize the environmental impact of their product uses.

We have developed a strong expertise in aquatic ecotoxicology, which we continue to expand with young talents and experienced professionals that wish to invest their passion and energy for environmental protection.

In this context, we offer an interesting, impactful, and future oriented job, within a team of scientific experts and technicians aiming to bring environmental risk assessment to the next level integrating data from early screening, standard regulatory studies and higher-tier information as well as modeling into a mechanistic understanding of aquatic ecotoxicology.


To further grow our team, we are looking for an ecotoxicologist as leader of an aquatic laboratory, who will bring her/his expertise in the science of ecotoxicology and experience in leading a lab running studies in this area.


What you will be doing

  • Lead a team of technicians in performing standard, nonstandard and higher tier studies and be an active member of the Aquatic Expert Team at Bayer and collaborate with your teammates in developing the aquatic risk assessment of the future for Europe and globally
  • Be responsible for an aquatic laboratory running under the principles of GLP, for regulatory guideline studies and tailored ecotoxicology studies to measure effects of crop protection products on aquatic species and take the role of a study director and monitor for a broad range of aquatic studies
  • Develop studies that go beyond guideline requirements and standard tools and that aim for a mechanistic understanding of effects on aquatic organism and accompany the continued leverage of scientific progress in using and combining new methodologies,_ in vitro_ approaches, effect modelling, and digital solutions
  • Interact and collaborate with internal and external laboratories and research institutes, take part in the further development of testing approaches and their integration in risk assessment strategies
  • Support and enable progress in the digitalization of the laboratory

What you bring to the table

  • You have a PhD degree in natural/life sciences or comparable advanced professional experience and are experienced in ecotoxicology with experience in testing of aquatic organisms being an advantage
  • You are knowledgeable about regulatory guidelines, criteria and processes applied to environmental risk assessments as well as GLP principles
  • You are interested in and aware of stateoftheart science and innovation in the ecotoxicological research areas
  • You are open for innovation and welcoming diverse ideas, perspectives, methods and approaches and are openminded and creative, able to think outofthe box and to connect data and topics
  • You have a digital mindset and experience in handling and interpreting complex data and statistics
  • You are keen to work in a multicultural environment together with global colleagues from different regions and are motivated to solve problems, and to structure and simplify complex tasks
  • You are a good communicator and able to explain complex topics adequately and tangible to different internal and external audiences
  • You are fluent in speaking and writing in English, additional languages can be an advantage
