Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • To assist and support the Innovation design team to create performance innovations which drive the advanced product process from opportunity identification through production reality
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn and grow towards achieving disruptive, innovation design impact with our consumers. Connecting emotionally with our consumer through your design contribution. Manifesting in a positive benefit driven brand experience, wrapped in a compelling and relevant story about the consumer's Lives.
  • Set a high standard for your design projects, through genuine ownership of your responsibilities, striving to manage your design projects in a confident manner with clear decisionmaking and productivity.
  • Provide vision to innovation themes by translating consumer insights, desires, performance benefits, brand values, business opportunities, macro trends and technology opportunities into strategic consumer experience stories.
  • Set an exemplary standard of engagement, passion and contribution to Innovation Concept Teams, Research and Engineering.
  • Support Design leadership in the creative process to make sure that the final products meet Innovation, Inline Design and BU expectations for design impact, innovation, calendar and commercial objectives.
  • Develop in cooperation with appropriate Innovation Concept Team(s), relevant materials, technologies, construction ideas and patterns through samples, ensuring function and manufacturability.
  • Help to plan and conduct meetings and presentations with confidence and professional communications.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with our adidas inline design and marketing colleagues.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Prolific design: High level of design talent and skills necessary to envision, communicate and prolifically create innovation design content. The basic ability to quickly create a high volume of creative design concept at an appropriate level of time investment. (This includes the support and the self-creation of concept exploration, concept illustration, hand sketches, renderings, technical drawings and "tech packs", colour concepts, storyboards, graphic solutions, digital media, etc )
  • Consumer insights: The basic ability to gain genuine and relevant insights and interpret them into emotionally connected innovation opportunities. The ability to collect, and share insight information needed to effectively design, inform, and inspire.
This should include all possible sources to gain this information:


  • Frequent contact and genuine interactions with our core consumers in their environments and on their fields of play.
  • Structured focus groups and unstructured sporting event opportunities.
  • Professional and amateur athletes, as well as your own expertise
  • Universities, internal and external researchers
  • General interest press, trend services, fashion & sportswear magazines
  • Trade publications, trade fairs, sport events
  • Store checks, market visits, team travel
  • Basic ability to effectively collaborate with all levels within the organization by building relationships with our colleagues, partners, customers, and consumers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources to drive successful outcomes for innovation projects, platform, and initiatives.
  • Basic industry and consumer trend knowledge.
  • Functional technical understanding of FW and/or apparel product.
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and drive design concepts.
  • Basic ability to effectively contribute towards multiple priority projects proactively.
  • Travel as needed to solve design and development issues at the respective factories and development centres.
  • Good communication skills. The ability to effectively present information to large groups.
  • High level of talent, creativity, and determination.
  • A passion for Sport and an affinity for creating product experiences that make athlete's lives better.
  • Fluent in English
  • Requisite Qualifications:
  • BA or MA in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Sport Performance Design or comparable. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in innovative Product / Footwear / Apparel design.
  • Proficient Computer skills on Apple Mac, PC or VR (Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop,, Power Point, CAD, Gravity sketch, etc.)
  • Experience with 3D programs. (Rhino, Alias, Grasshopper, Blender, MODO)
