Epidemic Risk Solutions - Internship Epidemiology or Underwriting (M/F/d)

Company
Munich Re

Location
Munich, Germany

The Epidemic Risk Solutions (ERS) unit develops new risk transfer solutions for epidemic and pandemic risks for the private and public sector.

Epidemic outbreaks of infectious diseases can impact companies, the economy and insurers' portfolios severely as the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated once again.

By better understanding and evaluating epidemic risk exposure we work on establishing a new insurance market segment. Munich Re's ERS team consists of experts from various fields (e.g. pricing, underwriting and epidemiology) and provides a one-stop shop for companies aiming at protecting themselves against the adverse effects of an epidemic outbreak or pandemic. We offer 2 internships, each with a focus on epidemiology or underwriting

Your placement will be for up to 6 months (full time) ideally starting in April 2024 (part-time contracts and shorter placements are possible).

Your Job

  • Support ERS' underwriting activities.
  • Collect and analyse loss information from various markets and business sectors.
  • Create pitch presentations for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Support project management and coordinate across business units, cooperation partners and clients.
  • Perform analyses of markets, companies and key performance indicators (e.g., reviewing annual reports).
  • Provide economic expertise for developing insurance solutions for private and public sector transactions.

Your Profile

  • Willingness to delve into epidemiological and (re)insurance topics.
  • Professional working experience e.g. in the fields of business development, project management, epidemiology or insurance would be appreciated but is not necessary.
  • An affinity to and experience with (statistical) data analysis would be appreciated but is not necessary.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral) and sound MS Office skills.
  • Openminded, accurate, selfdriven and independent working style.
Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit.
