This role will report into the site TLS leader.


This is a part-time role. 5 hours per day Monday to Friday. Start and finish times can be flexible, or even split.

Job Purpose
To carry out day to day routine laboratory tasks required to support scientific groups at GSK. To enable scientists to have consumables and reagents required to complete their procedures.


Responsibilities

:


  • Prepare standard buffers, media and reagents.
  • Maintaining and distributing lab stocks such as consumables and solvents.
  • Coordination and cleaning of Lab Personal Protective Equipment eg safety glasses, lab coats.
  • Storage and Laboratory consumable inventory management/replenishment.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy area at all times.
  • To perform routine calibration/verification checks on a range of laboratory equipment such as pH meters and balances.
  • Set up and operation of a wide range of standard lab equipment.
  • Prepare aliquots and labelling.
  • Preparation of QC standards.
  • Prepare materials and equipment for use.
  • Undertake in lab tasks for scientific staff to agreed protocols.
  • Cleaning and disinfection of lab equipment such as incubators, Fume hoods and safety cabinets.
  • Maintaining lab stocks such as consumables and solvents.
  • Operate to approved quality standards (e.g., GLP/GMP).
  • Maintain QA systems by keeping accurate records of work undertaken, methods used, and results achieved.
  • To ensure safe operation of equipment used (e.g., balances, pH meters, fume cupboards).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant working instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety instructions.
  • To be responsible for maintaining a tidy and efficient laboratory environment and for ensuring health, safety and compliance standards are met and maintained.
  • To liaise with customer groups to discuss their requirements, agree protocols for new tasks, escalation to Line Manager as required.
  • Planning of own daily tasks.
  • Carry out all requests and tasks in a helpful, professional manner, build relationships with key staff and consistently demonstrate good customer service.
  • Adhere to all company & client policies, procedures, site rules and regulations.
  • Comply with all company & client procedures relating to Health & Safety & safe working practices.
  • Represent and promote the Company wherever possible.
  • Perform any other reasonable requests as required by the line manager.

Qualifications/Personal Qualities

  • Biologisch Technischer Assistent (BTA Biology technical assistant) Chemisch Technischer Assistent (CTA) or Laborant (Lab worker).
  • Experience in working to technical procedures (SOPs, Work Instructions) and safety related documents (Risk Assessments).
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • Good understanding of safety and quality requirements.
  • Good customer focus.
  • Selfmotivated and team player
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Computer literate.
  • Works effectively and professionally with others to achieve the desired results.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with colleagues and management.
  • Communicates to build relationships and interacts appropriately with others.
  • Service orientated attitude combined with innovative thinking.
  • Ability to work within the pharmaceutical industry and working in an environment with a strong focus on compliance.
  • Minimum of basic conversational German required.
  • Good English reading, writing, spoken required.

Physical/Mental Demands

The overall physical exertion of this position requires:

  • Sit or stand through the day in laboratory and office areas.
  • Work around in modern office arenas, undertaking several different tasks.
  • Use of personal protective equipment in laboratory
