In order to support the Airbus Central Research & Technology Team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an

Intern (d/f/m) Uncertainty Quantification for Vision-Based Landing:

Location: Ottobrunn
Start:
Duration: 6 months

You will work on uncertainty quantification in the context of vision-based aircraft landing — and your research will focus on the intersection between Bayesian deep learning and computer vision.

This internship will include dedicated supervision and therefore requires a strong motivation and commitment.

Your location:

Our site is just a stone's throw away from Munich, the beautiful capital of Bavaria.

Are you into sports and other outdoor activities? The Alps and Lake Starnberg are within an hour's reach, offering a multitude of recreational options.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

Develop uncertainty quantification methods for deep learning.
Benchmark the performances of the developed algorithm with current state of the art solutions.
Present the work and results to the project team and the Airbus AI community.

Desired skills and qualifications:

Strong background in machine learning (e.g. thesis, projects, internships, etc.).
Experience with Bayesian methods / uncertainty quantification in machine learning (e.g. variational inference or Laplace approximation) is a must.
Experience in computer vision (object detection and pose estimation) is a big plus.
Decent coding skills in Python.
Decent coding skills in PyTorch.
Good working level in English.
