TUD Dresden University of Technology, as a University of Excellence, is one of the leading and most
dynamic research institutions in the country. Founded in 1828, today it is a globally oriented,
regionally anchored top university as it focuses on the grand challenges of the 21st century. It
develops innovative solutions for the world's most pressing issues. In research and academic
programs, the university unites the natural and engineering sciences with the humanities, social
sciences and medicine. This wide range of disciplines is a special feature, facilitating interdisciplinarity
and transfer of science to society. As a modern employer, it offers attractive working conditions to all
employees in teaching, research, technology and administration. The goal is to promote and develop
their individual abilities while empowering everyone to reach their full potential. TUD embodies a
university culture that is characterized by cosmopolitanism, mutual appreciation, thriving innovation
and active participation. For TUD diversity is an essential feature and a quality criterion of an excellent

development of this research project:

  • Work on optimization model for the problem of network coding node placement in 5G and
beyond systems. The objective is to increase reliability while minimizing end-to-end latency
and energy requirement.

  • Develop software for Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) protocols to lower delay. The
developed software should be compatible/implementable with 5G systems.

  • Help in the implementation of real 5G testbed, for example, using OpenAirInterface (OAI) with
Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). The testbed will be used to validate the proposed
mathematical optimization algorithms.

The Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks has stood out for providing investigators
with state-of-the-art research tools and hardware to optimize the integration of network coding in 5G
and most advanced technology, applied in the development of network coding solution for 5G and
6G.

Requirements:

- an outstanding university degree (master/diploma) and, if applicable, PhD degree (or
- equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or a relevant area;- strong programming skills in C++ and Python;
- an integrative and cooperative personality with excellent communication and social skills;
- fluency in English - written and oral.

Preferred Qualification:

- good understanding of network coding and 5G Systems.- experience in developing mathematical optimization algorithms.
