Duties:


  • Serves as the technical expert/authority and directs work of subordinate personnel responsible for AFRICOM.
  • Identifies, distributes workload and tasks among team members in accordance with established work flow.
  • Interprets policy and procedures, establishes priorities, ensures quality of work, and ensures work is completed pursuant to established schedules and milestones.
  • Serves as a the direct oversight for the AFRICOM Data Centers.
  • Serves as the technical expert/authority and advisor for development, implementation, modification, and management of long and shortrange IT goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.

  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • A preemployment and recurring comprehensive background investigation that includes,
- but is not limited to, contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.

  • Overtime will be required on short notice.
  • Shift work may be required on a 24/7 basis and also may be necessary during exercises, crises, or contingencies.
  • Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekend.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform 25% TDY to U.S. AFRICOM areas of responsibility.
  • Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device.
  • The incumbent may also be on an "oncall" status on a rotational basis
  • The IT classification for this position is IT I. Position is designated as Special Sensitive.
  • Incumbent must be able to meet and maintain IT certification standards for IAT Level II as provided in DOD 8570lM Information Assurance certification standards within six (6) months of hire.
  • Current DoD Employees: If a current permanent CES employee, you shall be granted administrative return rights. If not a current permanent CES employee, you may be granted administrative return rights if agreed to by your CONUS organization.
  • In accordance with DoD CES Personnel System Implementation Guidance for Overseas Rotations and Administrative Return Rights, employees must be able to satisfy the rotation requirement and tour limitations in DoD Instruction Volume 1230.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.

  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by recommending changes to the network infrastructure architectures based on standards and policies; assisting in developing and implementing new methods and principles in network infrastructure design; routing and switching within a LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) environment; experienced in troubleshooting LAN or WAN environment; experience with Security infrastructure and policy.
  • The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
