Job description:

The control of quantum states of trapped ions is one of the most advanced approaches on the way towards fault-tolerant programmable quantum computers.

The team is working in an excellent national and international network and is participating in important large collaborative projects including the Quantum Valley Lower Saxony "QVLS" initiative, the cluster of excellence "Quantum Frontiers" and the BMBF projects "MIQRO", "ATIQ" and "QuMIC".

Responsibilities and duties

You will be part of a team that builds and commissions the experimental apparatus that will be used for the QVLS, MIQRO, and ATIQ projects.

The work will include final design adjustments in CAD software, completing mechanical and electrical tests of components, writing and modifying python scripts, setting up the interface to the control software, and experimentally finding optimal settings for controlling the trapped ions and running gate operations.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to interact with a large number of researchers in regular collaboration meetings around Germany and present research results in international conferences.
