The Global Commercial (GC) Technology organization is a key enabler for the GC business growth agenda through delivering product differentiation and continuous innovation in cost-effective formulations, product demonstrations and reasons-to-believe and, increasingly, new service offerings.


What's the role?
This position is an integral member of the Global Commercial Technology group responsible for delivering for Shell Spirax branded products
- amongst other things
  • Innovation, product development, portfolio maintenance and portfolio decarbonization, marketing support, plant support, employee and customer training, equipment trouble shooting, QC trending and data management. Be one of the technical representatives for our branded Spirax portfolio.


Alongside of above, the Lubricants organisation has identified a growth opportunity in providing fluids for e-vehicles (Transport and Passenger Cars) - both hybrid and full electric and covering fluids for the transmission and cooling of the electric motor.

This role should help to coordinate the technology effort here, lead various projects, and be the focal point for communication with the OEM, Marketing, Product Management and our Sales organization.

Accountabilities

Reporting to the TL R&D Industrial, Process & Transmission Fluids (EMEA) at our Hamburg R&D Centre the key accountabilities are:

  • Project Lead for dedicated Spirax branded portfolio and e-fluids projects, notably transmission and cooling fluids
  • Planning, execution and coordination of defined transmission R&D projects and Technical Service activities
  • Coordinate technology interfaces to key OEMs, leading the technical relationships where appropriate
  • Manage internal and external R&D projects and assess our suppliers against technical requirements
  • Manage all project related QHSSE activities, R&D relevant processes, and project or product related documentation in Sales Force
Special Challenges

  • Support and ringfence the technology leadership for Shell in these areas (Spirax and OEM branded, similar as for our new eFluid portfolio)
  • As a fastmoving area, ensuring clear prioritization of Shell activities with focus on long term value
  • Managing a considerable amount of senior stakeholder interest in these areas. (Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Supply)
  • Proven track record of project delivery in product development environment. Strong project management skills

What we need from you

  • Ideally postgraduate qualification in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent longterm experience in the lubes area
  • Recognized expertise of lubricant formulations and testing capable to formulate with single components ideally in the transmission area, or within a similar lubricant related area (eg. grease, PCMO)
  • Excellent team working & interpersonal skills and proven capability to manage different stakeholders
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team, including close collaboration with project leaders who may be virtual or overseas in other timezones
  • Results & business driven and highly serviceoriented while being able to add value to our stakeholders
  • Proven ability to influence without direct control
  • Passion and curiosity for future mobility trends and their implications
