Job Overview:

The primary mission of Hill Top Café at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is to provide high quality nutritious food service in to meet the special nutritional needs of patients, the warfighter and other customers within the hospital with flexible, efficient, and cost-effective services.

The Food Service Worker serves food by way of various serving lines. In addition, the Food Service Worker prepares, maintains, and cleans dining areas.

The Food Service Worker will ensure that dining areas are clean after each serving period and the area is clean and orderly prior to the scheduled start of the next meal period and prior to closing for the day.


Qualifications:

-
Knowledge and Skills: Able to speak and read English (equivalent to Level II)

  • Able to lift and carry 20 pounds
  • Able to work extended periods standing
  • Knowledge of simple food handling techniques
  • Skilled in the use of simple food preparation equipment
  • Able to work safely

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)_: _

  • Serve food by way of various serving lines.
  • Wipe down tables after every diner use during meal service period with a sanitizing solution and clean paper towel or cloth.
  • Set up trash and refuse collection points at the dining location to receive used disposable trays, plates, silverware, food scraps and all trash or refuse.
  • Ensure that appropriate condiments are available immediately and all condiment containers, napkin holders and toothpick dispensers are visibly clean and contain product.
  • Protect dinnerware from cross contamination and visibly free of grease, food particles and foreign matter prior to the start of the following scheduled meal period.
  • Clean spills and remove dinnerware occasionally left by diners. Spills shall be cleaned, and used trays bussed.
  • Remove and replace Government provided tablecloths when stained or heavily soiled.
  • Properly clean and sanitize patient tray items.
  • Clean floors and floor coverings in all areas. Floor areas, entry mats and nonslip mats shall be visibly clean at the scheduled start of each meal period and prior to closing for the day.
  • Discard garbage, refuse, and grease.
  • Clean and sanitize storage compartments of ice making machines.
  • Inspect and clean all food service equipment to maintain equipment to manufacturer's standards.
  • Recycle cardboard, office paper, newspaper, glass, plastic, tin cans, and aluminum (cans, containers, and foil) in accordance with installation policy.
