The global project NDC Assist II cooperates closely with developing countries to support the successful implementation of their climate targets (Nationally Determined Contributions, NDCs), to leverage climate finance and for sustainable development.

We are looking for an intern to support the following two components: "Private Adaptation Finance" aims to mobilize investments for private sector solutions in the space of climate change adaptation and resilience, working with small and medium sized companies (SME) and impact investors in Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Pakistan.

The "Article 6 capacity building" component cooperates with the environmental ministries and institutions in Rwanda, South Africa and Peru to support a successful use of carbon markets according to the rules under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

The NDC Assist II project is based in Bonn and cooperates closely with the partner countries.


Ihre Aufgaben:


During your internship in the NDC Assist II project, you will gain an insight into the day-to-day business of GIZ's internal and external structure and the work of a global project.

Under the guidance of your supervisor, you will support the project management with organizational tasks, support the coordination with the actors in the partner countries and support the preparation of communication documents.


The tasks include, among others:

  • Support in content preparation and implementation of official workshops with the political partners and other relevant stakeholders in the partner countries, e.g. by preparing presentations
  • Organisation and coordination of meetings and workshops with the political partners and other relevant stakeholders in the partner countries, e.g. drafting concept notes, invitation management, technical support of virtual meetings, taking minutes
  • Support of communication strategy in both components, through gathering information, updating project websites, and drafting official communication documents, e.g. factsheets, reports, and newsletters
  • Stakeholder management for newsletters, workshops in the partner countries and official meetings, etc.
  • Research and development of technical documents, e.g. PPTs and factsheets, in the areas of climate action, adaptation to climate change, carbon markets/Article 6, and sustainable development
  • Support in GIZ data and knowledge management of the project, taking organizing project internal meetings and taking minutes

Ihr Profil:


  • Studies in the area of political science, international relations, economics or a related field
  • Experience in working in an intercultural setting and with communication to diverse stakeholder groups
  • First practical experience also abroad welcome, e.g. in the field of project management support, communication, stakeholder management, event management
  • Knowledge of development cooperation and/or administrative sciences/regulatory policy
  • Knowledge of climate policy is a plus
  • Analytical thinking, very structured working style and very good oral and written communication skills are a requirement
  • Ability to work on own initiative, also under time pressure and highly selforganised
  • English at fluent level is required as the project communication language is English, good Spanish skills are an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of common MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
