The position is to be filled by 1/1/2024 and offered for a fixed term of 4 years.

The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).

This is a full-time position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 14 TV-L..

The fellowships offer early-in-career high-potential researchers an exceptional opportunity to sharpen their research profile.

The experience is designed to prepare them for success in highly competitive grant programs as well as to enhance their career prospects of becoming a professor.


Ihr Profil:


  • University degree (master's or equivalent)
  • Strong academic record including publications in peerreviewed journals, invited lectures, conference presentations, and research awards
  • At least two years of research experience outside of Germany after graduation
  • Identification of a host institute or Profile Area at RWTH for your research proposal

Ihre Aufgaben:


Although the fellowships are awarded based on an open call for proposals, JPIs will be associated with a specific RWTH institution or Profile Area and are expected to establish a strong presence there and strengthen the relationships between labs.

JPIs are expected to develop a T-shaped profile, build strong networks, shape emerging fields and produce high-impact publications.
