Wood is recruiting for an Project Accountant to support our Renewables business based in Hamburg.


The position will be based in Hamburg; however, we can offer hybrid working with a flexible combination of home and office working.

The Role


The Project Accountant will ensure all accounting entries within the Hamburg buisness are recorded in an accurate and timely manner.

This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a "no surprises" outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis. They will also be responsible for supporting the Hamburg team with any general administrative activities as and when required.


You will work closely with the management team, the consultants and the wider Finance teams to ensure that all documentation and required information is delivered in a timely and accurate fashion.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines
  • Ensure invoices are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the commercial terms of the contract
  • Ensure results are accurately reported and analysed
  • Calculationof billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitability
  • Assistance with preparation of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team
  • Responsibility for compliance with Financial management Framework within the individual's sphere of control
  • Focus on cash collection, optimisation of DSO and minimisation of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analysed and controlled
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Liaising with external, internal and client auditors
  • Linkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspects
  • Execution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when required
  • Support with general administrative tasks for the Hamburg office as required

Skills / Qualifications:

Expected

  • Native (or similar) German language skills
  • Fluent in English both written and verbal
  • Previous accounting experience
  • Proficient user of Excel and all Microsoft packages
  • Good commercial knowledge
  • Good systems experience (eg. Oracle, Hyperion)
  • Ability to form and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to speak another European language is a benefit
