Beschreibung

Institute of Communications and Navigation of German Aerospace Center (Oberpfaffenhofen) is looking for a motivated Master student for "fisheye camera calibration and its error analysis".

Your Mission:
We are developing new reliable navigation systems within the framework of various projects for autonomous Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

The vehicles generally operate in urban environments where highly accurate navigation is required, but the performance of satellite navigation can be degraded due to local effects.

Therefore, we are developing camera-based localization to support safe takeoff/landing at vertiports.

Join us to solve this challenge Your tasks include

  • Review the fisheye camera calibration methods
  • Study and extend camera calibration error modelling methods based on our earlier developments
  • Analyze and model the fisheye calibration errors
  • Hardware experiments to validate the model

Your Qualification:

  • Master students in engineering or science (e.g. Electrical engineering/Computer science/Communication engineering/Mathematics)
  • Solid knowledge in mathematics/statistics/estimation theory
  • Solid knowledge in camera calibration. Initial knowledge in visual navigation will be highly appreciated
  • Solid experiences and skill of Python. Initial knowledge of C++/ROS will be highly appreciated
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
