CSP Services is an innovative technology company in the solar industry, founded in 2007 as a spin-off
of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). We provide engineering and consulting services to developers,
operators and owners of solar thermal power plants, using innovative and specific measurement
techniques to ensure high performance solar fields. With our subsidiary CSP Services España, S.L. in
the southern Spanish city of Almería, we support our global customers who develop, build, operate or
manage CSP power plants. To increase our competitiveness, we regularly collaborate with research
institutions on publicly funded R&D projects.

In our Meteorological Services department, we conduct solar resource measurement campaigns
worldwide and market an innovative all-sky imager-based solar irradiance nowcasting system that helps
solar power plants accurately predict the irradiance levels at their plants to estimate upcoming

We offer a 6-month placement in Cologne, Germany:

Internship (M/F/d): Nowcasting System Analysis

Your tasks:

• Analysis of nowcasting system performance at an actual client site (CSP power plant)
• Develop practical nowcast performance parameters and visualizations: Were the solar irradiance
• Programming of performance analysis tools (MATLAB / Python)
• Compare nowcast performance with various system/software configurations
• Perform sensitivity analysis on relevant software configuration parameters
• Document results and repeat analysis for other sites

Your profile:

• Master student with an excellent Bachelor degree in engineering, physics or computer science
• Identification with our goals of supporting sustainable energy solutions
• Interest in data analysis
• Ability and affinity for precise work and structured analysis
• Programming skills and experience in MATLAB (additional Python skills are welcome)
• Competent handling of standard PC software (Windows, MS Office)
• Proficient use of English in a business context (German is welcome but not a must)
• Team player and open to new challenges and cultures
• Ability and interest to stay in Cologne for six months

We offer the possibility to extend the internship work into a master's thesis.
