Do you love doing experiments? We have the job for you

The Furlong lab is looking for a research scientist that has great hands and loves to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, cutting-edge environment.

The position involves contributing to different projects in the group and also, potentially, leading your own project. Extensive molecular biology experience is required, including genomics (e.g. ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, Hi-C, Capture C), CRISPR/Cas9 genetic engineering, and subcloning. Experience with single cell genomics and _Drosophila_ genetics are an advantage. The person should be able to work independently, be highly motivated and very well-organized.

The Furlong lab dissects fundamental principles of genome regulation, and how it drives cell fate decisions during development, focusing on how the genome is organised and regulated during embryogenesis.

Your role

You will join a highly collaborative, diverse and international team.

Closing date: 14 April 2023

Contract duration: 8 months

Grading: 6

Reference number:
HD02393

You have

You might also have

  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Handson experience with genomics and single cell genomics methods
  • Experience in microscopy
  • Experience in different single cell genomics methods
Why join us

This position is a great opportunity to play important role in driving research projects in a very interdisciplinary group forward, to help Ph.

D. students and post-docs in the team, and to train new researchers in the group.

You will also gain knowledge of a diverse suite of experimental approaches, as well as being part of a team doing state-of the art single cell genomics and computational approaches.

The initial position is for
8-9 months, but could be extended.

We are Europe's flagship research laboratory for the life sciences - an intergovernmental organisation performing scientific research in disciplines including molecular biology, physics, chemistry and computer science.

We are an international, innovative and interdisciplinary laboratory with more than 1600 employees from many nations, operating across six sites, in Heidelberg (HQ), Barcelona, Hinxton near Cambridge, Hamburg, Grenoble and Rome.

Our mission is to offer vital services in training scientists, students and visitors at all levels; to develop new instruments and methods in the life sciences and actively engage in technology transfer activities, and to integrate European life science research.

What else you need to know
