Would you like to actively participate in socioeconomic research on the transformation of the energy system? Do you enjoy being in an exciting and dynamic work environment? The Institute of Energy and Climate Research - Systems Analysis and Technology Evaluation (IEK-STE) researches the long-term characteristics of sociotechnical energy systems in the context of transformation and innovation.

In an interdisciplinary team, approaches are developed to investigate socioeconomic aspects of technological development and their interactions with the environment, economy, and society.

In addition to contributing to science, research outcomes help to advise industry, policy makers, and society.


We are offering a

PhD Position - Market Dynamics in the Bioeconomy

Your Job:


  • Socio
- and technoeconomic analyses in the context of circular economy and sustainable bioeconomy

  • Design and conduction of empirical or dataanalytical research approaches
  • Analysis of market dynamics in the bioeconomy
  • Presentation of research findings at national and international conferences, utilizing effective communication skills to convey insights clearly and succinctly
  • Publication of research results in reputable scientific journals to share knowledge and contribute to the advancement of the field

Your Profile:


  • Completed master's degree in the field of economics, social sciences, data science, or a comparable field of study
  • Very good knowledge in the field of quantitative data analysis
  • Experience in agentbased modeling, stated preferences methods, and quantitative network analysis is desirable
  • Knowledge in the field of environmental economics, resource economics, economic theory, evolutionary economics, or innovation economics
  • Independent and structured way of working
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in an international and interdisciplinary team
  • Very good command of English
