Beschreibung

Sony is one of the most innovative companies in the world and drives the development of technology in a global network of research institutions.

The Stuttgart Technology Center (STC) was founded in 1989.

As part of the Sony Semiconductor Solutions Europe Group the Stuttgart Laboratory 1 (SL1) and the Stuttgart Laboratory 2 (SL2), are home to two research and development groups.

Furthermore, the Automotive Semiconductor Sales & Marketing (ASSM group), the Technology Partnerships Europe (TPE) and Intellectual Property Europe (IPE) departments are part of STC.

The Stuttgart Laboratory 2 (SL2) is instrumental in the development of new technology and new materials in the fields of Nanophotonics, Imaging and Sensing, Sustainability, Sensorial User Interaction, as well as involved in questions about quality, failure analysis, environmental compliance, and standardization for current and future Sony products.

Within SL2 we are offering the possibility for doing an

Internship or Practical Semester

A Bachelor or Master thesis could also be considered.

For three student positions in the following three fields:

Your work would include:

  • Performing related experimental work in the lab and in the field to acquire hyperspectral images.
  • Supporting the analysis of hyperspectral images and definition / correlation of parameters.
  • Evaluation of typical parameters for benchmark cameras.
  • Dataanalysis and results summaries.

Your profile:

  • Physics or biophysics studies completed at least 2nd year.
  • Interest and ideally some prior experience in the field of optical characterization as well as absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy.
  • Interest in working with novel photonic and optoelectronic devices for biosensing, in a field which combines physics and biology.
  • Good command of English and ability to work within an international team.
  • Nanophotonic emissive/color conversion devices

Your work would include:

  • Performing experimental work in a laser lab: after instructions, performing experiment series independently in continuous exchange with the scientists working in the Nanophotonics team
  • Supporting the analysis of measurement results / correlation of parameters
  • Dataanalysis, graph generation, and results summaries

Your profile:

  • Physics studies completed at least 2nd year
  • Interest in working with and developing novel photonic and optoelectronic devices
  • Interest and ideally some prior experience in the field of microscopy, lasers, optical characterization as well as absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy
  • Experience in experimental data analysis and graph generation (Excel, Origin)
  • Good command of English and ability to work within an international team
  • Adaptive nanophotonic devices

Your work would include:

  • Developing and coding of new scripts for simulations of nanophotonic devices using an established software suite
  • Performing simulations of nanophotonic devices using FEM and/or FDTD methods
  • Supporting related experimental work in the laser lab
  • Literature searches, Dataanalysis, results summaries and presentations

Your profile:

  • BSc in Physics, mathematics, computer science or related discipline
  • Interest and ideally some prior experience in the field of optical electromagnetic simulation
  • Experience in programming (e.g. Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran, )
  • Interest in simulating and developing novel photonic and optoelectronic devices
  • Good command of English and ability to work within an international team

We offer:
You will be part of an international and interdisciplinary team. We work in state-of-the-art opto-electronic, analytical, and synthetic laboratories. Collaboration across company functions is part of our daily work.

We are experienced in the design and development of materials, photonic and opto-electronic devices; and we design and develop new methods and setups for our laboratory.

Furthermore, we have well-established collaborative network with international academic partners.

The duration of the position will be optimally 4-6 months or as required by your University.
