Duties:


  • Provide evaluation and therapeutic interventions to a full range of wounded, ill, injured and postsurgical service members.
  • Utilize evaluation techniques to determine patient's current functional level using standardized/clinically accepted measurement and evaluation tools.
  • Implement complex, goaloriented treatment plans for patients presenting with a multiplicity of dysfunction and impairments in physical function.
  • Develop protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP) for PT programs.
  • Design treatment plans to meet patient/clinical objectives to maximize restoration of physical and adaptive roles and functions.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • The incumbent must possess and maintain a current license to practice in a State or Territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. May be required to sign Condition of employment for certain civilian position identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • Employee must possess and maintain an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)certificate of training.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a preemployment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination. This position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements.
  • This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.

Basic Requirement for Physical Therapist GS **:

Degree:

A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.


Licensure:

Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT)


Exemption:

You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before

  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes evaluation of physical therapy patients with the focus on medicine based data collection; develop goal oriented customized physical therapy treatment plans; and provide education on various topics such as injury prevention, disease process, effects on body functions, energy requirements, ergonomic needs, etc.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).


  • Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
