Gallery Assistant

Student internship


Founded by American Art Curator and Gallerist Sara Lily Perez; Galerie SLP targets inclusivity, embracing diverse artists from all mediums and backgrounds, sustaining a potent & progressive platform for high-voltage creative expression.

Galerie SLP entices provoking, collaborative conversations surrounding social and environmental issues; Accenting topics on equality, unity & the human experience transported through art.


Tasks
-
Content Creation: Write blog posts, social media content, and newsletter pieces about current exhibitions, featured artists, and upcoming events at the gallery.

Research: Conduct research on artists, funding oportunities, art movements, and specific artworks to support curatorial staff and enrich gallery publications and presentations.

Exhibition Support: Assist in the preparation and installation of exhibitions, including labeling artworks and helping with the layout and design of exhibition spaces.

Visitor Engagement: Engage with visitors during gallery openings or special events, offering insights about the artworks and artists, and gathering feedback on the exhibitions.

Press Releases: Draft press releases and other promotional materials to help publicize exhibitions, artist talks, and other gallery events.

Catalogue Development: Contribute to the development of exhibition catalogues, including writing artist bios, artwork descriptions, and interpretive texts.

Archival Tasks: Help manage the gallery's archive by cataloguing past exhibitions and artist interactions, organizing digital and physical files.

Educational Programs: Assist in the development and delivery of educational and public programs related to the gallery's exhibitions.

Social Media Management: Help manage the gallery's social media profiles, including planning posts, engaging with followers, and analyzing engagement data to improve outreach.

Art Handling: Learn and assist with the proper methods for handling, packing, and unpacking artworks, ensuring their preservation.

Documentation: Assist with photographing artworks for documentation, online content, and archival purposes.

Vendor Coordination: Help coordinate with vendors for services related to exhibition setup, such as framing, lighting, and transportation.


Time Commitment:

This internship will last three months, hours per week during business hours and/or
Saturday. We offer flexible schedules to coincide with students' class and work schedules.

Galerie SLP Staff will provide supervision on site, who will monitor the intern's progress, and be available for questions and directions as needed.
