Master Thesis:
Efficiency optimized control strategy for PMSMs based on Economic MPC

We reinforce our R&D Efficient Power Electronics Team at our location in Friedrichshafen for a Master thesis starting with the beginning of summer semester 2023.


Your tasks:


  • Literature research to the stateoftheart, fundamentals of Economic MPC, and related research
  • Problem formulation for the MPCbased efficiencyoptimized PMSM control strategy
  • Implementation in Matlab/Simulink taking into account generic design, transferability of physics, numerical efficiency, and realtime capability.
  • System simulation, verification, and comparison with stateoftheart models
  • Documentation of results and pointing out concrete action steps

Your profile:


  • Engineer's study in electrical engineering, control engineering, engineering cybernetics, mechatronics, or similar
  • Solid knowledge in the area of simulation/computation and control engineering required
  • Knowledge in MATLAB/Simulink desired
  • Strong analytical thinking skills as well as the capability to work independently
  • Very good communication skills in English or German
