Beschreibung

The Max Planck Institute for Physics is a research institute focusing on particle and astroparticle physics from both an experimental and a theoretical perspective.

One main research activity is the participation in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.

The ATLAS collaboration investigates the consistency of the Standard Model with very high precision, and also extends the search for physics beyond the Standard Model to unprecedented accelerator energies.

The ATLAS Calorimeter Group at the institute has contributed to the design, construction and operation of the ATLAS Hadronic Endcap Calorimeter (HEC) and the reconstruction and calibration software for calorimeter signals and jets.

Our present R&D activities focus on the front-end electronics for the endcap calorimeter and advanced reconstruction techniques for particles combining all ATLAS systems.

Analyses of ATLAS data in the group focus on precision measurements involving - but not limited to - top-quarks and hadronic final states.

Salary and benefits are according to the German public service pay scale (TVöD Bund). The contract is initially limited to three years with the possibility of extension.
