As one of Europe's leading research universities, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich is committed to the highest international standards of excellence in research and teaching.

Building on its more than 500-year-long tradition, it offers a broad spectrum that covers all areas of knowledge within its 18 Faculties, ranging from the humanities, law, economics and social sciences, to medicine and the natural sciences.

Full Professorship (W3) of Prosthetic Dentistry**
(Chair)
commencing on April 1st 2025.

The professorship is fully responsible for research and teaching in the entire fields.

Furthermore, this professorship is attached to the position as Head of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at the University Hospital of LMU Munich.

The Department covers entirely the fields of Prosthetic Dentistry.

Important research and clinical focal points, which should be continued and strengthened, are in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics (including Implant-Superstructures and Digital Technology),
Craniomandibular Function and Disorders, as well as Dental Material Sciences.

A board-certified specialization in Prosthetic Dentistry is desired.

In teaching and patient care the professorship is closely linked to the key disciplines of dental/oral medicine and the university hospital.

Accordingly, a leader with proven leadership experience and expertise is sought. Good communication skills are required.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program including third party funds.

Additional to knowledge in experimental research also experience in clinical studies e.g. in multi-center or interdisciplinary research is advantageous.

The clinical duties and responsibilities of this professorship including the billing of private patients shall be reimbursed under the terms of a "Chefarztvertrag" (chairmanship contract) with a private-law contract for the professorship.

This regulation can, however, be potentially disregarded when a professor has already been a chairman in a fully tenured professorship (C4-/W3-status) with the authorization to bill private patients.

LMU Munich makes a point of providing newly appointed professors with various types of support, such as welcoming services and assistance for dual career couples.
