ROLE SUMMARY


The Director/Head of Policy & Public Affairs Germany is a critical strategic role responsible for leading the Policy & Public Affairs team to shape a policy environment for Germany that puts patients first and rewards innovation.

It is critical to ensuring patients have access to Pfizer's innovative medicines and vaccines, accelerating healthcare transformation, growing Pfizer's reputation in Germany, and ensuring an attractive policy environment for life sciences investment.


This role also serves as the Corporate Affairs representative in the Pfizer Germany Country Leadership Team to provide strategic counsel on enabling the growth and vitality of Pfizer Germany's business and reputational interests.

It is also a key member of the German Crisis Management Team and works closely with the Country President.


A significant portion of time will be spent representing Pfizer with Germany's policy stakeholders and developing trusted partnerships and networks needed for Pfizer to deliver on our purpose.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Analyzes the external policy environment, set priorities, and develop and execute innovative, compelling public affairs strategies that support business goals and result in real-term positive outcomes for patients.- Provides strategic counsel in Management team's planning decisions and coordinate all aspects of external engagement for the German organization, ensuring alignment of priorities across Policy & Public Affairs, External Communications, Patient Advocacy, and Global Health and Social Impact.- Builds a best-in-class Policy and Public Affairs team, with respect to performance, behaviors, skills, and talent management.- Establishes, maintain and lead high-level government and policy stakeholder relations to advance Pfizer's strategic priorities and grow Pfizer's reputation as a credible, respected, and trusted voice in the life science sector and on the impact of Germany's health environment on society and the economy.- Ensures a leadership role in key trade and business associations (e.g. vfa, BDI, AmCham), and that advocacy positions and activities are aligned with Pfizer positions and values.- Maintains strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government officials- Ensures financial efficiency of the Policy and Public Affairs function in Germany


QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum 10 years' experience in German public policy, government relations, public/corporate affairs/ legal affairs, with ideally minimum 5 years' experience in health care.- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective, innovative and practical public affairs and policy plans that deliver results.- Strong executive presence and interpersonal acumen, highly substantive and collaborative.- Strong people management experience that fosters engagement and empowers performance.- Highly networked, including with government and key stakeholders, with an outstanding ability to develop relationships with key constituencies.- Demonstrated leadership experience managing high profile issues.- Fluency in German and English with excellent oral and written communications skills- Well organized, motivated, creative and analytical problem solver- Ability to build and support high-performing matrixed teams, providing an inclusive environment with clear and decisive direction and focus.- Education: Bachelor's degree required, and advanced degree preferred ideally in law, business, public health, or international policy.
