The DFG-funded Research Training Group "Ecological Regime Shifts and Systemic Risk in Coupled Social-Ecological Systems" (ECORISK) deals with the causes of ecological regime shifts and their potential consequences in social-ecological systems in an interdisciplinary approach.

ECORISK aims at training a new generation of innovative scientists capable of dealing with complex sustainability challenges. It brings together perspectives from behavioral economics, ecological modeling, environmental systems science, geography, geoinformatics, political science, and sociology.

ECORISK is located at Osnabrück University, which is renowned for its outstanding interdisciplinary research and embedded in a city with an excellent quality of life.

For the coordination and public relations of the Research Training Group at the Institute of Geography in the School of Cultural and Social Sciences, a position as


Coordinator (M/F/d)

(Pay grade 13 TV-L, 75%):

is to be filled on a fixed-term basis until September 30, 2029, starting on October 1, 2024.


Your Duties:


  • Support the spokesperson of the Research Training Group in coordination tasks and additional budgetary and organisational responsibilities
  • Support in planning and implementing the process for developing the ECORISK conceptual framework
  • Organisation of events of the Research Training Group
  • Organise the public relations of ECORISK (social media, outreach events with schools, museums or other initiatives, press releases, websites, newsletters and interactions with media and press offices)

Requirements:


  • Very good completed academic degree in the field of Environmental System Science or Geography
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary perspectives on questions of ecological regime shifts and systemic risks in socialecological systems
  • Experience in the coordination of research projects
  • Experience with public relations for research projects
  • Very good English and German language skills in both spoken and written form
