In order to support the Application Development Radar Remote Sensing department, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Internship radar remote sensing and geoinformation (d/f/m):
A subsequent thesis in alignment with the department is possible.

The department GEO is offering Geo-Information Solutions based on multi-sensor data with focus on the Radar Satellites TerraSAR-X and Sentinel-1.

The alignment of vision, concepts and specific requirements together with customers, as well as internal departments like Engineering, is key.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

Preprocessing of SAR and/or optical satellite data (e.g. coregistration, layer stacking, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, orthorectification)
Preparation of training data for Machine Learning (e.g. labelling, tiling)
Workflow implementation in GIS and / or Remote Sensing Software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, Erdas Imagine, etc.)
Verification and documentation of results

Desired skills and qualifications:

Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) geoinformation or a similar field of study
Experience in GIS, digital image processing of remote sensing data and/or digital elevation models is required
Software experience with GIS (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and image processing software (e.g. ERDAS Imagine, ENVI) is required
Experience in Python programming is required
Knowledge in Computer Vision and Machine learning / Deep learning methods is desired
Basic knowledge in SAR remote sensing would be a benefit
Languages: English and / or German (second is a plus)
You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
