    About Our Client Company and General Manager Cruise Port, Germany Role:

    For our global client, with a very high international reputation in the port management industry, we are looking fort he right senior level executive who has an extensive background in cruisiline/hotel/commercial management, cruise port management and/or maritime transportation, cotainer & cargo management.

    Candidates preferably with cruise line/hotel/comemrcial, cruise port and/or maritime transportation, container & cargo background with mandatorily Germany experience will be evaluated fort he General Manager Cruise Port role.

    What is the Profile of the General Manager Cruise Port, Germany:

    The Genaral Manager Cruise Port is the key person of the business develeopment of the port in order to market the port destination. In addition she/he is the main contact with all local authoroties.

    The General Manager Cruise Port will be a key player at the heart of exciting plans for the growth and revitalisation of port operations. To do this effectively, it is essential that the position holder is an excellent communicator who interacts efficiently in a smooth way and is pro-active in the engagement of both internal and external stakeholders.

    The position holder is responsible for ensuring that, operating beyond compliance with regards to all national and international maritime regulations; auditing current procedures, working with the HQ in order to develop new procedures and ensuring the safety, security and environmental best practice.

    Externally, the General Manager Cruise Port will engage with industry bodies to represent our client in port operations industry in a positive manner and ensure its interests are represented and considered during wider industry debates.

    What will be doing the General Manager Cruise Port, Germany:

    The General Manager Cruise Port is responsible for all aspects of the planning, execution and monitoring of marine, port and shore excursion operations as well as the business develeopment of the port in order to develop and market the port destination as well as being the contact person of a huge supplier network.

    The position holder will ensure that prior to committing a vessel to any itinerary, the routes, ports and shore excursions have been properly assessed for the operational constraints of the vessel and for the safety and security of the passengers and crew. Where necessary, her/his team will be required to lead site visits and compile a report with recommendations and limitations to present back to the Cruise Board

    As well, she/he will carry out regular visits to the fleet and through a series of Governance Committees, ensure that marine, safety, security and environmental operations are being executed in line with best practice and complying with, or where possible beyond complying with all national and international regulations.

    The General Manager Cruise Port will develop a program of professional assessments and will set key performance indicators that ensure that the ships' masters are challenged to maintain their position at the head of their vessel's organisation structure; maintaining excellent nautical practices alongside excellent customer focus in everything they do. Whenever possible, the position holder will make use of the Bridge simulator facilities to assess the standards and reactions of his masters as well as maintaining the cruise risk register and champion risk management.

    The General Manager Cruise Port will ensure that all safety equipment onboard is correctly maintained and that all crew members are fully trained as per the requirements of the Safety Management System. Where necessary she/he will instruct the technical management company to contract external providers to provide specialist equipment training.

    Last but not least, the position holder will ensure that the footprint is minimised and that efforts are made to engage with local communities. By taking place in the Sustainable Development Committee, she/he will ensure that Group initiatives are promoted throughout the fleet.

    General Manager, Cruise Port, Germany:

    The General Manager Cruise Port will be responsible for managing and overseeing all port/terminal operations by communicating closely with key clients and leaders, developing new solutions and capabilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness working within the business unit.

    Responsibilities:

    • Primary point of contact at the port/ terminal and interfaces with management and local officials related to all facets of the operation.
    • Ensures the business develeopment of the port and in order to develop and market the port destination.
    • Oversees development of policies and procedures throughout the port and terminal operations.
    • Reviews operating results to ensure budgeted goals are achieved and expenses controlled. This will include monitoring safety, efficiency, performance, and cost effectiveness.
    • Establishes annual revenue, capital and cost budgets and will hold profit and loss responsibility.
    • Coordinate and negotiate outside contractors and service provider agreements. These agreements may operate in multiple locations and/ or foreign locations.
    • Responsible for coordinating all corporate function supports such as legal, labor relations, risk management, regulatory compliance, business continuity planning and marine operations.
    • Develop and maintain business relationships customer base and be involved in sales, marketing, and operations of the business.
    • Lead and develop a cross functional team that includes both union and nonunion personnel.
    • Engage in digital transformation initiatives at the terminal.
    • Serve as an active community representative and collaborate with port authorities, tenants, vendors, associations, and community engagement.

    Competencies:

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
    • MBA preferred.

    Experience:

    • 15+ years senior level of business management experience in related maritime area.
    • Senior level experience in leading a port terminal or leading a cruiseline operation would highly be required.

    Proficiency:

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
