Constructor University (formerly Jacobs University) is a private, state-accredited, English-language research university in Bremen.

We are offering Pre-Degree, Bachelor, Master or PhD programs in three schools:

School of Science, School of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Business, Social & Decision Sciences and are involved in the professional development of specialists and managers and in the transfer of knowledge.

Our principles are first class research and teaching, international diversity and transdisciplinary cooperation. As an international university we attract highly talented and open-minded students from all over the world. Currently, more than 1,500 students from over 100 nations live and study on our residential campus.


Among several other strategic interventions, the university is currently driving an ambitious expansion of digital sciences across its academic and scientific programs and activities, underpinned by significant new investments in personnel, research and relevant scientific equipment.

This initiative is intended to improve integration and interdisciplinarity across the three schools in teaching, learning and research. In this context, four new academic positions, all Assistant Professorships (teaching and research) have been opened in Computer Science.

Your responsibilities:

In this position, you will support our research activities in the field of Computer Science, with specific focus on one of the following fields:

  • Machine Learning
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cyber Security
  • Visual Computing
  • Software Engineering
  • Programming Languages and Tools
  • Automation (e.g., machine intelligence, industry 4.0, CPS, IIoT, and control)


All positions are also expected to support teaching in Computer Science; develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning; advise students on their studies; and supervise Bachelor, Master's and PhD theses and research projects.


Your qualifications and experience:


  • PhD degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Strong publication record related to computer science in the relevant field of specialization
  • Experience and success in teaching in the context of international and diverse environments
  • Demonstrable interest in innovative teaching and learning approaches
  • Experience in transferring research knowledge to solving problems in engineering and science
  • Responsible, selfmotivated person able to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
  • Intercultural experience and competence
