The ICCT seeks a Fellow who will contribute their energy and creativity towards research that will shape the global technology transition in the heavy-duty vehicle sector.

This fellowship will provide the opportunity to work at the intersection of vehicle technology, economics, and public policy. Representative work can be seen at the ICCT's heavy-duty vehicle program page.


This 12-month fellowship, based in our office in Berlin, Germany, is best suited to someone with inventiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, and curiosity, willing to work hard and learn fast.

To be successful in our work environment, you must be intellectually curious, self-directed, and able to work with people from across the globe.


You Will:

  • Manage datasets with precision, extracting valuable insights through your quantitative analyses and adept visualization skills
  • Contribute to meaningful change by performing toptier quantitative research that aids in the development of local, regional, and national regulations addressing emissions from onroad freight vehicles and buses
  • Broaden our knowledge horizon by reviewing and summarizing technical and scientific literature and policies on vehicle emissions and electrification
  • Hone your communication skills by authoring or coauthoring deliverables that effectively articulate our research findings and their policy implications
  • Play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality of our projects by reviewing and providing constructive feedback on colleagues' and partners' work

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in engineering, science, or a related technical field
  • Proficiency in analytical and modeling tools such as Python, R, or Matlab
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in investigating the climate, energy, and/or health impacts of the transport sector, the onroad freight sector, or vehicle technologies
  • Proven track record in collecting, critically analyzing, and deriving insights from data
  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Prior experience working in teams and a collaborative research environment
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in a second language is preferred
  • Prior work or study experience outside of your home country desired
Our Benefits


This full-time (40 hours/week), temporary position will be based in Berlin for a duration of 12 months and have a salary of 3,000 EUR per month depending on education and experience.

The position may lead to regular, full-time employment depending on organizational resources and the Fellow's performance. We offer an excellent benefits package including hybrid office/remote flexibilities, transportation subsidy, and other benefits.
