Internship title
:
MeteoSat Third Generation Programme Envelope/Cost-At-Completion: Analysis of historical data per main cost element/project.

The MTG Programme is one of the main EUMETSAT Programmes from the Meteosat series of Geostationary satellites providing to its users imagery for the early detection of fast-developing severe weather, weather forecasting and climate monitoring.

The MTG system is one of the most innovative weather satellite systems ever built.

When it is fully deployed, it will include two identical imaging satellites (MTG-I) with new and enhanced capabilities (FCI and LI), and for the first time over Europe, a sounding satellite (MTG-S) carrying an infrared sounder and the Copernicus Sentinel-4 Ultraviolet Visible and Near-infrared instrument.

The EUMETSAT MTG development programme started in the first quarter of 2011.

In the context of the launch of a cost engineering initiative at EUMETSAT aiming to structure cost incurred in the past for better and more precise costing of future missions, it is of high importance that historical data is analysed and structured for usage into a cost database that allows cost extrapolation towards future meteorological and climate missions in EUMETSAT.

Duties:

The intern will be involved in the:

  • Evolution of both direct costs (per projects/segments) and indirect costs of the MTG Programme over time: the primary objective will be to analyse past cost information and structure it for usage into a database for reference for future costing.
  • Analysis of Programme margins consumption over time: starting from the margin earmarked at the beginning of the Programme, the purpose will be to trace back and characterise the usage of the margin.
  • Extension to analysis of other EUMETSAT Programmes could be envisaged.

LOCATION:

  • Darmstadt, Germany
    QUALIFICATIONS:
The internships are open to master students with mandatory internship requirements in relevant disciplines such as Business, Economics or Cost Engineering
