The

collaborative project together with the Leibniz Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS) and the German Institute for Nutrition Research (DIfE) is

based on the recent discoveries of signaling lipid switches in the control of endoplasmic reticulum (Jang et al Haucke, V and lysosome (Ebner et al Haucke, V function and morphology. We combine genome engineering with advanced imaging and novel methodology for lipid analysis to dissect the role of myotubularin lipid phosphatases in membrane dynamics and metabolism. Myotubularin dysfunction is linked to human diseases ranging from myopathy to diabetes and cancer.
