In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD) we design the automobile generations of the future. By this we mean innovative products of the highest quality and efficient development processes. We are already working on vehicles that will ensure Mercedes-Benz's technological leadership in the future.

**Your tasks / These challenges are coming your way: - Exploring new cell chemistries and architectures and their effects on cell performance

Building different types of lithiumion cells, including slurry preparation and electrode coating
Cell cycling, teardowns, and material characterization
Conceptualizing, designing, modifying existing or building new measurement equipment
Simulating and reproducing automotive scale battery pack conditions on individual cells in the lab
Producing peerreviewed publications and presenting your results to a broad audience

The requirement for hiring is the supervision of the PhD project by a university lecturer. The PhD student is responsible for choosing his/her/their own supervisor.

Qualifikationen:

**Ideally you qualify for this job with: - Completed university studies in chemistry, physics, electrical/mechanical engineering, or similar field

Knowledge and practical experience in electrochemistry and lithiumion batteries
Highly motivated and find joy in both theoretical and handson laboratory activities
Basic programming and data analysis skills
Problemsolving skills and structured approach to challenging tasks
Soft skills and working in a team in a dynamic professional working environment
Scientific writing and presentation skills
Proficiency in using the standard MS-Office programs
Proficiency in spoken and written English, proficiency in German would be beneficial
