Research assistant (M/F/d) in the field of polymer science with focus on elastomers or a comparable field of study

Salary group E13 TVöD

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry.

We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes.

Your responsibilities include:

Interdisciplinary development and investigation (R&D) of elastomer components, especially for testing of skid/grip of pavement surfaces using the Wehner/Schulze-method:

Development of recipes for elastomers and their production
Coordination of testing/characterization in the elastomer laboratory
Coordination of collaboration with project partners
Evaluation, compilation and presentation of results
Preparation of interim and final reports, publication of results
Prearrangements for standardization and technical boards, assistance for establishing as reference material of BAM

Your qualifications:

Completed scientific university degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.) in the field of polymer science with focus on elastomers or similar
Completed doctorate is an advantage
Relevant experience in the field of elastomers is an advantage
Experience with interdisciplinary cooperation within the team and with external partners/customers
Experience in project management and coordination, documentation, preparation of reports and publications
Very good verbal and written communication skills in German (at least B2)
Very good verbal and written communication skills in English
Good communication and information skills, goaloriented and structured way of working, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
