The computational molecular medicine lab is a lively, international, and interdisciplinary computational biology group with a research focus on the genetic basis of gene regulation and its implication in diseases. We are located in the computer science department of the Technical University of Munich, one of the top-ranked European universities. Our lab has strong links to other local scientists and institutions in biology and medicine but also close connections to the Leibniz Rechenzentrum (LRZ), one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Our team is part of the newly established German Human Genome Archive (GHGA) consortium, a national secure and trustworthy network of data centers for archiving, processing, and serving human genome sequencing and other omics data for biomedical research.

Job description

Your responsibility (distributed within the IT administration team)

  • Deploy Unixbased servers and workstations
  • Maintain our cluster (SLURM, FreeIPA, DNS, RStudio, JupyterHub,...)
  • Register new users and ensure proper access rights
  • Develop and deploy new Ansible roles
  • Improve the automation of our deployment
  • Monitor our systems and develop new monitoring strategies
  • Replace failed hardware (e.g. reclamation and ordering)
  • Respond to user issues on a daily basis
  • Maintain documentation

Requirements:


  • University Bachelor or similar in Computer Science or Bioinformatics
  • Handson experience in administrating UNIXbased systems
  • Knowledge of Red Hat systems like CentOS or Fedora
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, R,)
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities to handle a diverse workload
  • Experience in developing and deploying complex software systems
**Desirable but not required

  • Experience in administrating FreeIPA or SLURM services
  • Knowledge of security measurements and GDPR requirements
  • Communication skills in German (communication with vendors)

The part-time (50%) position is a regular, open-end, non-scientific position with a salary according to the TV-L (German salary scale).
