The Institute of Epidemiology researches the interaction of environment, lifestyle and genetics in the development and progression of various diseases.

The focus is on cardiometabolic, respiratory and allergic diseases.

The goal is to break new ground in prevention on an individual level as well as to enable evidence-based preventive health care through improved environmental conditions.

The research is mainly based on the KORA resources and the birth cohorts GINIplus and LISA.


We are looking for a highly motivated and creative postdoc with a passion to develop and support our multidisciplinary team focused on allergy research within the ERC-funded project ALLERGENE.

Postdoc in genetic epidemiology of allergic diseases (f/m/x

Responsibilities:


We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with a passion to work in the field of allergy research in a multidisciplinary team.


The main tasks will be:


  • Analysis of large complex datasets such as genetic data, proteomics, metabolomics, singlecell transcriptomics, epigenetics
  • Integrated analysis of OMICS data and identification of biological pathways
  • Manuscript preparation, presentation of results
  • Support in supervision of PhD and graduate students
  • Contribute to different projects within the team and with external project partners
Your qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in biostatistics, genetic epidemiology, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field and preferably experience and interest in allergic diseases
  • Prior experience in analysis of OMICS data, ideally in relationship with allergic disease or immunological endpoints
  • Thorough knowledge of statistical methods and programming skills, including R software and associated packages
  • Experience in general scripting languages such as Perl, Python or bash and working in Unix/Linux environments
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • High motivation and commitment to pursue research projects independently as well as in collaboration
