Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies
at the University of Passau invites


Chair of Modern and Contemporary History (pay grade W3)
contemporary history covering at least two centuries. As the chairholder, you will teach a
comprehensive range of topics from the European historical period from 1500 to today. A focus
on German and European history of the 19th and 20th centuries is desired. Through your
contributions to teaching and research you will help ensure that students receive a rigorous
area. You will be open to intradisciplinary diversity and on that basis seek to establish
interconnections with the other sub-disciplines of history as well as the neighbouring academic
disciplines represented at the Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies. You will teach
courses for our history degree programmes, the teacher education programmes with history
Humanities and Cultural Studies and the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences. You will
be expected to take a proactive role in interdisciplinary research projects and should have
previous experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party-funded projects.
Additional competences in auxiliary sciences of history and digital history would be desirable,
as would experience with international collaborative projects and comparative cultural
approaches.

Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies is a research-strong, dynamic faculty that
